How to Download and Add Your Digital Album to Apple Music

Your digital album will download as a ZIP file. Before adding the music to Apple Music, you’ll need to unzip the file.

Windows PC

1. Download the album

  • Click the download link provided after your purchase.
  • The album will usually download to your Downloads folder as a .zip file.

2. Unzip the album

  • Open File Explorer and go to your Downloads folder.
  • Find the album ZIP file.
  • Right-click the ZIP file and select Extract All.
  • Choose where you would like the album saved, then click Extract.
  • A new folder containing the individual music files will open.

Important: Do not try to import the music directly from the ZIP file. The files must be extracted first.

3. Open Apple Music

  • Open the Apple Music app on your Windows PC.
  • If you do not have the Apple Music app installed, it can be downloaded from the Microsoft Store.

4. Import the album

  • In Apple Music, click the Sidebar Actions button at the top of the sidebar.
  • Select Import.
  • Locate the folder you extracted from the ZIP file.
  • Select the album folder and click Open.
  • Apple Music will add the songs to your music library.

Easy alternative: You can also open the extracted album folder in File Explorer and drag the entire folder directly into the Apple Music window.

5. Find your album

  • In Apple Music, select Albums or Songs under Library.
  • Look for the artist or album title.
  • Click the album to begin listening.

Mac

1. Download the album

  • Click the download link provided after your purchase.
  • The ZIP file will usually appear in your Downloads folder.

2. Unzip the album

  • Open Finder and select Downloads.
  • Locate the album ZIP file.
  • Double-click the ZIP file.
  • Your Mac will automatically extract it and create a new folder containing the music files.

3. Open the Music app

  • Open the Music app on your Mac.

4. Import the album

  • From the menu at the top of the screen, select File.
  • Choose Import or Add to Library.
  • Locate the album folder that was extracted from the ZIP file.
  • Select the folder and click Open.
  • The songs will be added to your Music library.

Easy alternative: Open the extracted album folder in Finder and drag the folder directly into the Music app.

5. Find your album

  • Select Albums or Songs under Library in the Music app.
  • Find the artist or album title.
  • Click the album to begin listening.

Want the album on your iPhone or iPad?

If you use Sync Library with Apple Music, music added to your library may also become available on your other Apple devices when they are signed in to the same Apple Account.

How to Download and Play Your Digital Album on Android

Your digital album will download as a ZIP file. Before you can listen to the music, you’ll need to unzip the file.

Android Phone or Tablet

1. Download the album

  • Tap the download link provided after your purchase.
  • The album will usually download to your device's Downloads folder as a .zip file.
  • Once the download is complete, open the Files or My Files app on your device.

2. Unzip the album

  • Open your Downloads folder.
  • Find the album ZIP file.
  • Tap the ZIP file.
  • Select Extract or Extract All.
  • Choose where you would like the album saved, if prompted.
  • A new folder containing the individual music files will be created.

Important: The ZIP file must be extracted before you can play the individual songs.

3. Play the album

  • Open the extracted album folder.
  • Tap any song to begin playing it.
  • Your Android device will ask which available music or audio app you would like to use.
  • Select your preferred music player.

4. Add the album to your music player

Depending on the music app you use:

  • Open your preferred music player.
  • Look for Library, Folders, Local Music, or On This Device.
  • Select the folder containing your downloaded album.
  • The songs should now be available to play directly from your device.

Can't Find the Download?

  • Open the Files, Files by Google, or My Files app.
  • Select Downloads.
  • Look for the album name or a file ending in .zip.
  • Extract the ZIP file and open the newly created album folder.

Tip: Once the album has been downloaded and extracted, the music files are stored directly on your device, so you can listen to them without an internet connection.
